Sam Cook P1
In this first unit, artists observe, our main focus was composition, values and perspective. Using composition allows the artists to create a focus on their work. Values are used when the artist is working with shadowing and shading. Shadowing and shading creates a more realistic look to the work. When you use perspective there are three different types you can use. You can use 1 point, 2 point and 3 point perspective. 1 point perspective is when there is just one vanishing point, like looking a long road that narrows to the point where you can't see it. 2 point perspective is when you see two sides of an object, like if you were standing there looking at the corner of the object unable to see either side. 3 point perspective is as if you were looking down or up at an object and you were able to see three sides.
Composition
In these drawings composition was the main foucus. In the second one there wasn't a lot of detail put into it. When I drew it I wasn't fully observing the object. While drawing the first one, I put more thought into the detail and the way the cleats we're put onto each other.
Values
While drawing these two, value was what I was focusing on. On the second one I didn't really shadow it that much. I just drew the outline of the shadow and scribbled I in. On the second one however, I put more thought in how the shadow flowed and angled the light source on the ball as well as the reflection.
Perspective
Perspective is used to make it look like you are there standing where the picture occurred. On the second one, it's just not that believable. The composition makes it seem more of just a picture, flat. The first one is more believable however. It looks more as if you were standing there on the street corner. In perspective, composition also helps it seen more believable.
